Christmas in South Africa means long lunches, beach days and a gift list that seems to grow every year. The good news is that R500 goes a lot further than you might think. We have picked twelve gifts from our range, all under R500 and all in stock at the time of writing, grouped by who you are buying for. For her
- Zodiac Symbol | Sterling Silver Necklace (R469): a dainty sterling silver charm, about 10mm across, that you choose by her star sign. Each necklace comes packaged on a card with a motivational quote, so it is ready to give.
- Beaded Coin Purse | SA FLAG (R189): a fully lined beaded purse of about 14cm x 11cm with a good zip and a pom pom. Tuck a voucher or a little cash inside and the gift is done.
- Body Oil Sugar Scrub | Various (R209): bright, fragrant sugar scrubs that combine gentle exfoliation with nourishing oils. Choose from Punchy Purple, Summery Citrus, Tropical Turquoise or Lovely Lemon; a hit with girls and tweens too.
For him
- Braai Tongs | Turn Your Own Choppies (R199): stainless steel tongs with a classic wooden handle, stored in a drawstring canvas bag with a cheeky quote. A good choice for the family braaimaster, or to take along instead of the usual box of chocolates.
- Storm Glass Barometer (R435): crystals inside the sealed glass chamber cluster or disperse as air pressure and temperature change. It sits on a solid beechwood base and makes a talking point on any desk or shelf.
- Key Finder Keyring & LED Light (R79): whistle, then follow the sound to find the keys. The built-in LED light helps with keyholes in the dark, which makes it a practical gift for anyone who is always hunting for their keys.
For the home and the Christmas table
- Christmas Napkins | Set of 4 (R129): a set of four wooden Christmas napkin rings in the shape of an angel, a reindeer, a snowflake and a Christmas tree. Use them on the table setting, or roll a short note into each one for your guests.
- Tea Towel | More Interesting with Wine (R259): a 100% cotton waffle-weave tea towel with a joke every host will appreciate. It is machine washable and works hard in the kitchen, so it suits a hostess or housewarming gift.
- Wine Bottle Thermometer (R269): attach it to the outside of the bottle and read the temperature of the wine inside. It works on reds, whites and sparkling wines, which helps when the December heat is working against you.
Stocking fillers under R200
- Sock Monkey (R179): a box of twelve little monkey clips that keep pairs of socks together from the washing machine to the drawer. Quirky, useful and easy to wrap.
- Metal Keyring | AFRICA LOVE SA (R69): a laser-cut steel Africa keyring, about 4cm x 6cm, powder-coated in bright colours. Proudly South African and a lovely add-on for teachers, friends or anyone heading overseas.
- Magnets | Eish-Yebo (R69): wooden fridge magnets, about 6cm, with a dose of South African slang. They are made in SA and make a fun farewell gift for family living abroad.
